Whitetail Deer (low-fence)

The most popular big game animal in the United States!

We hunt Whitetail deer via spot and stalk, safari style and sometimes from a blind and you may hunt them with a bow, rifle, black powder or handgun. We can accommodate hunters of any age and experience level.

Whitetail deer are is the most widely distributed wild ungulate in the US. Whitetail deer are the smallest of North American deer but the most abundant, with a population of over 30 million. The population in Texas, the most fertile home to Whitetail, is estimated at 5.5 million. In the early 1900’s, there were only about 500,000 whitetail deer in North America.

When threatened, whitetails will chirp and wave their tails frantically! And when spooked, the tail will go up as a flag to let everyone know something isn't right.

Texas Whitetail deer (Bucks) usually weigh 135 to 200 lb. The female Whitetail (doe) in Texas usually weighs 88 to 130 lb). Whitetail are very athletic and have been clocked running at 47 miles per hour, possess a vertical of 9 feet and can long jump an impressive 30 feet! Whitetail have eyes that spot any movement, ears that detect any unusual sounds (including coughs!) and a nose that is very sensitive. They are a very well equipped adversary.

Bucks regrow their antlers every year in one of nature's most fascinating and quick development of bone. Antlers begin to grow in late spring, covered with a highly vascularised tissue known as velvet. Bucks either have a typical or atypical antler arrangement. Typical antlers are symmetrical and the points grow straight up off the main beam. Atypical antlers are asymmetrical and the points may project at any angle from the main beam. A buck's inside spread can be from 3 to 25 in (8–64 cm) and a mature buck can have up to 30+ points, albeit the overwhelming majority of bucks have 8-10 points. Bucks shed their antlers when all females have been bred, from late December to February.

The North Texas rut typically occurs in late November and early to mid December, but is very dependent on weather patterns.

We hunt both Whitetail bucks and does. We offer a single low-fence package to hunt our low-fence Whitetail deer. This package includes a legal buck, doe, hogs and predators.
